IDW Is Game For EA's "Army Of Two"

IDW Publishing's "Army of Two" #5, based on Electronic Arts' "Army Of Two", the video game, will be released May 26, written by Peter Milligan, with illustrations by Dexter Soy/Jose Marzan Jr. and a cover painting by artist Chester Ocampo.

"...Escaped prisoners on the run, 'Rios' and 'Salem' are hell-bent on getting back to America. After their chopper goes down in the Mexican desert, the 'Army of Two' are on foot. With a price on their heads and their faces plastered across television, everyone in Mexico wants them dead! Meanwhile, 'Jaime''s lust for power has reached the upper levels of the Mexican government and may ignite a civil war..."

"Army of Two", the video game, is a third person shooter, developed by EA, released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, focusing on two mercenaries fighting through war, political turmoil, and a conspiracy from 1993 to 2009. Focusing on 'cooperative' strategies, the main feature of the game is the necessity to use coordinated teamwork to accomplish the game's goals.

While the game is meant to be played with another human as a partner, a 'Partner Artificial Intelligence' (PAI) is also included and programmed to follow the player's strategies. Dependence on a partner (whether human or PAI) is so pronounced that most objectives are impossible to complete without it.

The game sequel, "Army of Two: The 40th Day", was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360, January 12, 2010.

DiCaprio: "Inception"

Sneak Peek new character posters supporting Warners upcoming, psychological thriller "Inception", from director Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight").

Also written and produced by Nolan, "Inception" stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger, Dileep Rao and Michael Caine.

Scheduled to be released in both conventional and IMAX theaters July 16, 2010, premise of "Inception" follows 'Cobb' (DiCaprio), a skilled thief in the art of 'inception', who steals secrets from the mind's subconscious, during the 'dream state', (when the mind is at its most vulnerable), making his ability valuable in corporate espionage.

"Inception" was first developed by Nolan, "exploring the idea of people sharing a dream space, entering a dream space and sharing a dream. That gives you the ability to access somebody’s subconscious. What would that be used and abused for?"

"I tried to work that idea of manipulation and management of a conscious dream being a skill that these people have...And the only outlandish idea that the film presents, really, is the existence of a technology that allows you to enter and share the same dream as someone else".

The story "relies so heavily on the idea of the interior state, the idea of dream and memory. I realized I needed to raise the emotional stakes, with the emotional journey of DiCaprio's character, the driving force of the movie".

"The Rolling Stones 1969-1975 - The Mick Taylor Years"- July 27

MVD will release the new DVD, "The Rolling Stones 1969-1975 - The Mick Taylor Years" on July 27.

"...Often regarded as the period in which The Rolling Stones recorded the finest music of their career, the years during which Mick Taylor was the fifth Stone remain the band's 'Golden Age'. Notably, on albums "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers" and "Exile On Main Street" the Stones' sound changed as they developed new ideas and were informed by a range of new influences.

"Crucially it was Taylor's sophisticated blues and jazz licks that gave The Rolling Stones an added dimension between 1969 and 1975 - one they lacked both before and afterwards. This dynamic film tells the behind the scenes story of this hugely productive era for the group..."

The DVD features interviews with Taylor and his old boss, John Mayall; author and group colleague, Robert Greenfield; Village Voice music editor, Robert Christgau; Stones session musicians, Al Perkins and Bill Plummer; UK music critic, Barney Hoskyns and a whole lot more.

ABC Jiggles Their Schedule For "Charlie's Angels"

ABC reports it will 'reboot' the classic TV series "Charlie's Angels", hiring writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ("Smallville") to develop a pilot for a possible mid-season series launch.

The original "Charlie's Angels", airing on ABC, 1976 to 1981, was created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts for producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg, under the working title "The Alley Cats".

Premise of the first episode followed three women who graduate from the Los Angeles police academy only to be assigned duties handling switchboards and directing traffic.

Quitting the force, they are hired to work for the 'Charles Townsend Agency' as private investigators. Their boss, 'Charlie', is never seen full face, assigning cases to the 'Angels' and his liaison, 'Bosley', via a speaker phone.

Most episodes followed a regular structure whereby a crime is committed; the Angels are given the case details by Charlie and Bosley; the trio go undercover (usually involving something skimpy to wear); towards the end of the episode one of them is uncovered as a crime-fighter and it is a race against time for the others to rescue their friend before they meet some nasty fate.

The final scene inevitably would be back at the Townsend Office with Charlie offering his congratulations for a job well done.

Guy Ritchie Scores With "Gamekeeper"

Comic book publishers Dynamite Entertainment and Liquid Comics report they have set up a partnership to release an omnibus graphic novel collecting all 10 issues of "Gamekeeper", the comic book series created by director Guy Ritchie ("Snatch", "Sherlock Holmes").

"...The man known only as 'Brock' lives a quiet existence as gamekeeper on a secluded Scottish estate. But the tranquility is disrupted when Russian paramilitary mercenaries storm the house and kill 'Jonah Morgan', Brock’s friend and owner of the estate.

"To avenge Jonah’s death and protect a secret, Brock must turn predator and journey deep into an unfamiliar, urban underworld, plagued by a dark past..."

The former Virgin Comics property, created in 2007, is currently in development as a feature for Warner Bros and producer Joel Silver's Silver Pictures ("Lethal Weapon"), for Ritchie to direct.

"I'm interested in the visual sensibility of comic book storytelling, "said Ritchie, "so creating a comic was an obvious and exciting prospect. The moment I saw the pages, I had a cinematic vision for what I know will make a great film."

"Gamekeeper" was written by Andy Diggle and Jeff Parker, with illustrations by Mukesh Singh, Ron Randall and Ron Chan.

"3D is not only the future," said Emily Carr President Ron Burnett, "it's going to be the base of a transformation in how we view images, in how we relate to entertainment, and in how we live our lives..."

Emily Carr will team up with San Rafael, California-based VFX company Kerner Optical to create the new centre.
