“Gandahar” Restored

“Gandahar”, the 1987 France-produced animated science fiction feature, written and directed by René Laloux, based on “Les Hommes-machines contre Gandahar” by Jean-Pierre Andrevon, is being re-released in a newly restored 4-K version, screening August 28, 2026 in theaters:

"...'Sylvain’ is a warrior tasked by a matriarchal council to stop an army of robotic ‘Men of Metal’, that are turning his utopian planet's citizens to stone.

“On his journey, Sylvain is joined by ‘The Deformed’,  a caste of mutants discarded from ‘Gandaharian’ society after failed genetic experiments. 

“They discover that the frozen citizens are being transported 1,000 years into the future to be assimilated into the metallic army. 

“Sylvain and his companions must then travel into the future to battle the mastermind behind the chaos: ‘Metamorphis’, a gargantuan, sentient brain…”
