“The Penguin” Wins Awards


At the recently held ‘Creative Emmy’ awards, the HBO Max “Sopranos”-toned “Batman” spin-off “The Penguin”, created by Lauren LeFranc, starring Colin Farrell as crime boss ‘Oswald Cobblepot’, won 8 awards including ‘Best Original Score, ‘Best Special Visual Effects’, ‘Best Sound Mixing’,  ‘Best Sound Editing’, ‘Best Contemporary Costumes’, ‘Best Prosthetic Makeup’,  ‘Best Contemporary Makeup’ and ‘Best Contemporary Hairstyling’:

Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, 'Penguin' debuted in "Detective Comics" #58 (December 1941). 


He is often presented as a gentleman of crime...

...while presenting himself as innocent of many of his activities. 


An eccentric criminal mastermind...


....he is well-known for his love of ornithology and use of technology-fitted umbrellas. 


More modern depictions have shown him as the manager of the 'Iceberg Lounge'...


...a popular nightclub which serves as a front for his illegal activities.
