“Gangs of New York” TV Series

Director/producer Martin Scorsese, continues developing his feature "The Gangs of New York" (2002) as an episodic dramatic series for Miramax:

The new series will focus on events surrounding organized gangs in the late 19th century, in New York, Chicago and New Orleans.

"This time and era of America’s history and heritage is rich with characters and stories that we could not fully explore in a two hour film," said Scorsese. 

"A television series allows us the time and creative freedom to bring this colorful world, and all the implications it had and still does on our society, to life…”

“In 1863, ‘Amsterdam Vallon’ returns to the ‘Five Points of America’ to seek vengeance against the psychotic gangland kingpin, ‘Bill the Butcher’, who murdered his father years earlier. 

“With an eager pickpocket by his side and a whole new army, Vallon fights his way…

“…to seek vengeance on the Butcher and restore peace in the area.”
