After working in commercials and small indie films, Robbie got her first break on the TV series "Neighbours" (2008–2011), followed by "Pan Am" (2011–2012).Her breakthrough role came in 2013 with Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street".
She achieved wider recognition with starring roles as 'Jane Porter' in "The Legend of Tarzan" (2016) and as 'Harley Quinn' in the DC superhero films "Suicide Squad" (2016), "Birds of Prey" (2020) and "The Suicide Squad" (2021).
She also received an Academy Award 'Best Actress' nomination for her portrayal of figure skater 'Tonya Harding' in the biopic "I, Tonya" (2017). This was followed by roles in the period drama "Mary Queen of Scots" (2018), Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" (2019, and "Bombshell" (2019).
Robbie and husband Tom Ackerley are co-founders of LuckyChap Entertainment, producing "Promising Young Woman' (2020), TV series "Dollface" (2019–2022), TV miniseries "Maid" (2021) and the feature "Dreamland" (2022).
Robbie also starred in David O. Russell's period comedy "Amsterdam" (2022), is a silent film actress in Damien Chazelle's drama "Babylon" (2022), stars in Greta Gerwig's 2023 romantic comedy "Barbie" (2023) and is part of the ensemble cast in director Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City" (2023).
