"RoboCop: Rogue City" - From Movies To Games

The new first-person shooter video game "RoboCop: Rogue City", inspired by the "RoboCop" live-action movies, shows how game development studios look to films and TV shows as sources of inspiration for exciting games:
RoboCop

In "Rogue City", playing as 'RoboCop', the player must clear 'Old Detroit' of criminals, conduct investigations and can also give out parking tickets.

The game is set in-between the films "RoboCop 2" and "RoboCop 3". 'Anne Lewis', RoboCop's police partner from the films, accompanies the player.

The player can choose between using violence or a peaceful approach when seeking information from suspects.

The player's primary weapon is RoboCop's 'Auto 9' gun, which has unlimited ammunition.

Batman

There isn’t a person in the world who hasn’t heard of 'Batman'. It’s one of the most popular comic books that inspired several films and TV shows. Batman is one of the most recognizable characters in the world, and he still inspires. In 1992, "Batman the Animated Series" started airing and it wasn’t long before that series inspired a game. The game shares the title of the series and is set in the same universe.

When director Chris Nolan adapted Batman into three amazing films, fans got games to go. "Batman Begins" is the title of the first film and an interactive Batman video game. The popularity of Batman has soared to such a height that it inspired game developers in the  'iGaming' community.

These companies have created several Batman slots for punters. Casino fans will find Batman and other superhero slots at the game selection of many casino sites. For example Comeon.com is a site that offers a variety of slots as well as several versions of popular table games such as poker, roulette, baccarat, and others. They couple this with interesting promotions and a secure gaming platform.

When it comes to more recent examples, you have the "Batman: Arkham" franchise comprising four titles.

You’ll get to play with your favorite superhero, but also 'Catwoman', 'Nightwing' and 'Robin'. You will also get to take down classic villains including 'Joker', 'Bane', 'Two-Face', 'Penguin' and a whole lot more.

Star Wars

"Star Wars" is another popular film franchise that has inspired lots of game development. Look to the films for amazing titles, and find out countless "Star Wars" games. They date back to the 1970's with strategy titles including "Star Wars: Empire at War" and action titles including "The Force Unleashed".

You can even create your character in "Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy" and have them perform missions. It’s a game where you’ll get to complete these missions with various sorts of lightsabers. You can go single or double saber, or even 'Maul' saber if you like.

Aside from games inspired by "Star Wars films", you’ll find lots of comic book issues throughout the decades. They go back to the 'Old Republic' and visit the 'New Republic' as well. You can read them as prequels and sequels. If you’re looking for a taste of the Old Republic try the "Old Republic MMO" or 'Knights of the Old Republic' franchise.

Such an exciting universe is not without a TV show or two, and one of the most popular ones are the 'Clone Wars' series. It aired for seven seasons and tied into all the films. It also inspired several video games where fans of the show could play with their favorites from the show. "Republic Heroes", "Lightsaber Duels" and more are just the tip of the iceberg. Naturally, some games of the universe are available on mobile devices.

The Lord of the Rings

When it comes to pop culture, 'Lord of the Rings' will always have an important spot. The books are well-written inspiring three spectacular features. The second title was turned into a game and so was the third.

"Battle for Middle-Earth" is a great franchise. Although it has just two titles, they are some of the best games in that universe. Play good or evil campaigns, as well as custom games with 'orcs', 'Uruk Hai', 'elves' and 'dwarves'. But if you’re looking for a different kind of LOTR game then "Shadow of Mordor' is right up your alley.

Harry Potter

It’s no secret that the magical universe of "Harry Potter" makes up one of the most popular film franchises. "Philosopher’s Stone" started Harry on a magical journey as the first 'Potter' fans were born. They could also extend the journey on their 'PS1' consoles.

The gameplay didn’t look like much, but it improved vastly with the coming of the second film. The great thing about the "Harry Potter" film franchise is that each film came with its video game roughly around the same time as the title.

Game of Thrones

Aside from films, some TV shows also inspired popular titles. "Game of Thrones" was one of the most popular TV shows for a while, despite the way it ended.

There are a few "Game of Thrones" video games but the ones worth mentioning are the "Telltale' series, as well as 'Conquest", a mobile game.
