"The Penguin" in 2024

"The Penguin" is the upcoming 8-episode, live-action TV miniseries, created by Lauren LeFranc, starring Colin Farrell, based on the DC Comics character 'Penguin', spinning-off from the feature "The Batman" (2022)  streaming in 2024 on HBO Max:

"...set one week following the events of 'The Batman', the series explores the rise to power of 'Oswald Cobblepot' / 'Penguin', who became a disfigured crime lord and the former chief lieutenant of  crime boss 'Carmine Falcone' who is on the rise to becoming a criminal kingpin in his own right..."

Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, 'Penguin' debuted in "Detective Comics" #58 (December 1941). 

He is often presented as a gentleman of crime...

...often developing elaborate schemes...

...while presenting himself as innocent of many of his activities. 

An eccentric criminal mastermind...

....he is well-known for his love of ornithology and use of technology-fitted umbrellas. 

More modern depictions have shown him as the manager of the 'Iceberg Lounge'...

...a popular nightclub which serves as a front for his illegal activities.
