Amazon Takes MGM

Ever since Robert Iger, former CEO of the Walt Disney Co. made it known he wanted to acquire the "James Bond" franchise for his studio, Amazon's Jeff Bezos made it his mission to buy MGM Studios for his own Prime Video streaming platform, willing to pay $8.45 billion for a deep catalog that includes Bond, plus "Basic Instinct", "Poltergeist", "Raging Bull", "Robocop", "Rocky", "Tomb Raider", "The Magnificent Seven" and a whole lot more:

"We are very proud that MGM's 'Lion', which has long evoked the 'Golden Age of Hollywood', will continue its storied history," said Amazon.
