"The Batman" Catches 'Covid'

In the UK, director Matt Reeves' "The Batman" feature film, starring "Twilight Saga" vampire Robert Pattinson as the young 'Caped Crusader', has suddenly shut down principal photography after Pattinson himself turned up positive with the deadly 'Covid-19' virus plague:

"A member of 'The Batman' production has tested positive for 'Covid-19', " said Warners, "and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused..."

"In 'The Batman', a criminal mastermind in 'Gotham City' takes delight in incorporating riddles and puzzles into his schemes, leaving them as clues for the authorities to solve.

"...a short, obese man with a long nose, uses high-tech umbrellas as weapons.

"...a 'Gotham City' burglar wears a tight one piece outfit and uses a bullwhip for a weapon.

"...and there is a professional arsonist known as 'Firefly'.

"It's very much a point of view-driven, 'noir Batman' tale," said Reeves, who may also include 'Two-Face' and 'Mad Hatter' in the villain mix.

"It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It's more 'Batman' in his detective mode than we've seen in the films.

"The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.

"I'd love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime. It's going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation."

"Warner Bros. has been incredibly supportive, given me a lot of time and shared the same passion that I do for this story."

"Warners believes they don't have to try to develop a giant slate that has to have all the plans for how it's going to connect. What they need to try and do is make good movies with these characters..."
