"Weeds" on STARZ

It may seem mainstream these days, but a sequel to the subversive, Emmy Award winning episodic comedy series "Weeds" continues in development at STARZ with Lionsgate Television producing, starring Mary-Louise Parker, 10 years after Season Eight, as the 'Botwin' family adjusts to making a living in a new era of cannabis legalization:

"Weeds" was created by Jenji Kohan, airing on Showtime 2005 to 2012, following central character 'Nancy Botwin' (Parker), a widowed mother with two boys 'Silas' (Hunter Parrish) and 'Shane' (Alexander Gould), who begins selling marijuana to support her family.

Other main characters include Nancy's lax brother-in-law 'Andy Botwin' (Justin Kirk), who moves in to help raise her children, foolish acquaintance 'Doug Wilson' (Kevin Nealon), narcissistic neighbor 'Celia Hodes' (Elizabeth Perkins), Celia's husband 'Dean' (Andy Milder) and their daughter 'Isabelle' (Allie Grant), as well as Nancy's dealers 'Heylia James' (Tonye Patano) and 'Conrad Shepard' (Romany Malco).

Inspired by crime TV series "The Shield" and "The Sopranos", focusing on an anti-hero with an individual moral code against the norms of society, "Weeds" earned numerous industry awards including two 'Emmys'.
