Actress Margot Robbie, aka 'Harley Quinn' in the comic book movie "Birds of Prey", currently in post-production, poses for "Harper's Bazaar" (US) magazine, wearing Chanel Haute Couture, Michael Kors and a whole lot more, photographed by Camilla Akrans:
"Birds of Prey", co-produced by Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment, was directed by Cathy Yan ("Dead Pigs") from a screenplay by Christina Hodson ("Batgirl").
The main characters in "Birds of Prey" include DC Comics' 'Black Canary', 'Huntress', 'Cassandra Cain' and 'Renee Montoya'.
"I pitched the idea of an 'R-rated' girl gang film including 'Harley'," said Robbie, "because I was like, 'Harley' needs friends, 'Harley' loves interacting with people, so don't ever make her do a standalone film."
"She’s got to be with other people. It should be a girl gang. I wasn't seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space...
"And then of course having a female director to tell that story. And giving a female director the chance to do big budget stuff.
"I love action films. I’m a girl. What, are we meant to only like a specific thing ? So it was hugely important to have a female director for this.
"But at the end of the day — male, female — the best director gets the job and Cathy was the best director."
Producers of the new film also include Sue Kroll, Kroll & Co Entertainment and Bryan Unkeless of Clubhouse Pictures.
The original premise of "Birds of Prey", was a partnership between 'Black Canary' and 'Barbara Gordon', aka codename 'Oracle'.
Harley Quinn, played by actress Mia Sara also appeared in the TV series "Birds of Prey".
