"My Dad always spoke well of Ruby-Spears, and that they treated him fairly", said Jack's daughter Lisa Kirby, reflecting on the years that Jack worked for both Marvel and DC Comics, under a 'work-for-hire' clause, making him ineligible to own the copyright in his own works.
