More Superheroes In 2019

Thanks to the success of big budget Marvel Studios and Warners/DC films, comic book characters have starred in the most popular movies of the last decade, with timely screenplays, evolving special effects and dedicated legions of fans:

CAPTAIN MARVEL

"Captain Marvel", introducing Marvel Comics female superhero to the big screen, stars Oscar winner Brie Larson.

Set in 1995, the new movie follows former 'US Air Force' fighter pilot 'Carol Danvers', who joins the intergalactic  'Kree' military team 'Starforce' before returning to an Earth caught in a brutal galactic war.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck ("Half Nelson"), "Captain Marvel" is the twenty-first film in the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' ('MCU').

AVENGERS: ENDGAME

Projecting to be the highest grossing superhero film of all time, "Avengers: Endgame" will conclude a phase of the MCU with the fates of iconic characters 'Iron Man', 'Captain America' and 'Black Widow' hanging in the balance.

Lucrative comic book ensembles seem to have transcended the big screen, with winning formulas expanding into pop culture, from merchandising to video games to some of the most popular online slot games available.

Superhero films have not only influenced Hollywood's movie output, but also television and gaming with the rise of adventure-based online slots, spoiled for choice with great sites offering "Wolf Hunters", "Valley of the Gods" and a whole lot more, with bonuses of free spins for new customers.

2019 will also see the release of  DC's 'Joker', who has become more of an anti-hero than villain in recent years. Actor Heath Ledger delivered an Oscar-winning performance when he brought the character to life in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight"..

...but now it's the turn of Joaquin Phoenix, as the seventh actor to portray the villain in film.

Directed by "The Hangover" trilogy filmmaker Todd Phillips, "Joker" is set in 1981, as the character emerges from obscurity before starting a reign of chaos in 'Gotham City'.

Other anticipated releases in 2019 will include "Dark Phoenix", "Wonder Woman 1984", "Shazam" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home"...
