'Medusa' debuted in Marvel Comics' "Fantastic Four" #36 (1965) created by writer Stan Lee and co-plotter/illustrator Jack Kirby, as a decendant of a race of 'Inhuman' prehistoric earthlings mutated by mists produced under the city-state of 'Attilan'.
Medusa's hair has greater tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and shear resistance than an iron wire of the same thickness...
...possessing the psychokinetic ability to animate her hair for a number of feats...
...including elongating it to almost twice its normal length, or using it to lift and move heavy weights, up to 1.6 tons.
