Matt Reeves Will Direct "The Batman"

Following actor Ben Affleck opting out as director of Warners "The Batman", the studio has now officially signed Matt Reeves ("Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes") to direct the developing stand-alone "Batman" feature:

"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions," said Affleck, still committed to starring in "The Batman", after playing 'Bruce Wayne' in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice" and "Justice League".

"Performing this role demands focus, passion, and the very best performance I can give...I am still in this, and we are making it...I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.

"...with Batman, I keep on getting, ‘Where’s the fucking Batman?!'

"We're on the right track with that and everything is coming together...

"I respect all of the movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job.

"At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time.

"I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me."

Affleck chose 'Deathstroke' as the new movie's 'Big Bad', because...

"He's a great villain. I just had an instinctive feeling that Batman would match up with him well..."
