Ben Affleck's "The Batman" Updates

Actor Ben Affleck confirmed he will produce and star in Warners' upcoming live-action "The Batman" solo feature, set to start shooting in 2017, co-starring DC Comics' super-villain 'Deathstroke' (Joe Manganiello):

We’re working on it," said Affleck about "The Batman".

"It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating, because like, with 'Live By Night' it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard and-it’s just nobody gave a shit. No one was like, 'Where’s Live By Night!?'.

"But with Batman, I keep on getting, ‘Where’s the fucking Batman?!' and I'm like, Whoa, I’m workin', give me a second...!’

"We're on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We're still finishing up a script. I think we’re ahead of the curve.

"I respect all of the movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job.

"At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time.

"I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me."

Affleck chose 'Deathstroke' as the new movie's Big Bad, because...

"He's a great villain. I just had an instinctive feeling that Batman would match up with him well..."
