"Black Lightning" Strikes

According to reports, Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil will script a Warner Bros TV series for Fox, based on DC Comics character "Black Lightning", to be executive produced by openly gay TV producer Greg Berlanti, who has promised more LGBT themes for all of his DC Comics live-action TV adaptations including "Arrow", "The Flash", "Legends Of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl":

'Jefferson Pierce', aka 'Black Lighhtning' debuted in DC Comics' "Black Lightning" #1 (April 1977), created by writer Tony Isabella and illustrator Trevor Von Eeden, as a 'metahuman' born with the ability to generate and magnify externally-localized electro-magnetic phenomena by manipulating intense bio-electric fields generated from his body.

He can easily stun or kill a man with his internal powers, and on one occasion, able to restart the heart of 'Superman', after the 'Man of Steel' had suffered from a near-fatal 'Kryptonite' exposure.

He can generate a powerful electro-magnetic force field capable of stopping projectiles, however, this act requires considerable effort and concentration.

He has also demonstrated the ability to create an electro-magnetic repulsion field which grants him limited-flight capabilities.

Pierce also maintains his Olympic-level physical conditioning, giving him above-average strength, speed, and stamina and under the tutelage of 'Batman', developed highly-skilled hand-to-hand combat skills.
