"Doctor Strange" - 'The Ancient One'

Sneak Peek the Marvel Comics origins of "Doctor Strange" character 'The Ancient One' played by actress Tilda Swinton in director Scott Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" 3D feature film:

"We’re so far in talks that we’re not talking any more," said Swinton. "It’s done. I just really liked the premise of this and the idea of playing this character.

"I’m a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that 'Doctor Strange' goes into is really, really, really exciting. I’m really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what’s done in this particular world."

"It’s all about creativity. It's not about everything exploding at the end. It’s about something very different. The idea of playing 'The Ancient One' is really just too tickling. I can’t say no to that..."

The Ancient One is the mentor of 'Doctor Strange' and the original 'Sorcerer Supreme', possessing the ability to manipulate forces of magic for a vast number of effects...

...with the ability to tap into extra-dimensional energy by invoking entities or objects of power, existing in dimensions tangential to those of the Earth, through the recitation of spells.

The Ancient One is capable of astral projection, levitation, interdimensional teleportation, and a large number of other effects...

...possessing a variety of mystical objects, such as the 'Book of the Vishanti', the 'Orb', 'Amulet' and 'Eye of Agamotto' and devices gathered throughout his lifetime.
