"...in Season 1, two homicide investigators of the Louisiana State Police's Criminal Investigations Division, 'Rust Cohle' (Matthew McConaughey) and 'Marty Hart' (Woody Harrelson)—are summoned for questioning by detectives 'Maynard Gilbough' and 'Thomas Papania' over the 'Dora Lange' murder investigation of 1995.
"In Season 2, police officer and war veteran 'Paul Woodrugh' (Taylor Kitsch) discovers a crime scene, attracting detectives 'Ray Velcoro' (Colin Farrell) and 'Ani Bezzerides' (Rachel McAdams) to the investigation.
