Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones, will star in the first stand alone 3D "Star Wars" movie spin-off, to be directed by Gareth Edwards ("Godzilla"), opening December 16, 2016. Jones is known to genre fans as 'Felicia' aka 'Black Cat' in Sony's "Amazing Spider-Man 2". It is not known who will star as 'Black Cat' in the next round of "Spider-Man" movies.
'Black Cat' created by writer Marv Wolfman, was inspired from an idea he picked up from the Tex Avery cartoon "Bad Luck Blackie".
'Black Cat' first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #194 (July 1979).
"...'Felicia Hardy', the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar had developed a 'thing' for 'Spider-Man'.
"After suffering a traumatic event as a college freshman, she trained herself in various fighting styles and acrobatics and, after deciding to follow in her father's footsteps, adopted her costumed identity as the 'Black Cat'..."
