"X-Men" TV Series

Fox Entertainment's Gary Newman confirms that his network is developing a prime-time, "X-Men" live-action TV series, possibly "X-Factor" based on Marvel Comics 'mutant' characters, with negotiations ongoing between 20th Century Fox and Disney-owned Marvel:

"It's in negotiations," said Newman. "We're cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them..."

Marvel TV continues producing new series, including ABC's "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and "Agent Carter", plus the Netflix series "Daredevil", "AKA Jessica Jones", "Iron Fist", "Luke Cage" and "The Defenders".

Besides the "X-Men" movie franchise, Fox previously aired an animated "X-Men" TV series (1992-1997).

Fox currently has a critical TV hit in showrunner Bruno Heller's "Gotham", with most episodes reflecting a serious police crime procedural rather than a campy take on DC's iconic comic book characters.
