Marvel's "Daredevil" Updates



Brit actor Charlie Cox ("Boardwalk Empire") plays Marvel Comics' "Daredevil" and Vincent D'Onofrio" is 'Kingpin'  in the new Marvel/Netflix live-action series TV pilot "Daredevil", directed by Phil Abraham :


"...Marvel is proud to announce that acclaimed writer, director and producer Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus") has joined 'Marvel's Daredevil' as Executive Producer & Showrunner on the all-new 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015.


"Drew Goddard, who also wrote the first two episodes, will continue to serve as Executive Producer on 'Marvel's Daredevil' as he writes  Sony's 'The Amazing Spider-Man' spin-off film, 'The Sinister Six'..."


Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and illustrators Bill Everett and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in "Daredevil" #1 (April 1964).


"...living in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, 'Matt Murdock' is blinded by a radioactive substance that falls from an oncoming vehicle.


"While he no longer can see, the radioactive exposure heightens his remaining senses beyond normal human ability. His father, a boxer named 'Jack Murdock', supports him as he grows up, though Jack is later killed by gangsters after refusing to throw a fight. 


"After donning a yellow and black, and later a dark red, costume, Matt seeks out revenge against his father's killers as the superhero 'Daredevil', fighting against his many enemies including 'Bullseye'  'Kingpin' and sometimes ally 'Black Widow'.


"Daredevil's nickname is "The Man Without Fear".


Daredevil has since appeared in various forms of media including animated series, video games, merchandise and the Fox feature starring Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan and Colin Farrell in a manic performance as the villain 'Bullseye'.
