"Ant-Man" Starts Principal Photography

Sneak Peek a new synopsis for Marvel Studios' currently filming feature "Ant-Man", set for a North American release July 2015, directed by Peyton Reed ("Bring it On"), starring Paul Rudd as 'Scott Lang' aka 'Ant-Man', Michael Douglas as his mentor 'Dr. Hank Pym' and Evangeline Lilly as 'Hope Van Dyne', the daughter of Pym:

"...armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man 'Scott Lang' (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero...

"...and help his mentor, 'Dr. Hank Pym' (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular 'Ant-Man' suit from a new generation of towering threats.

"Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world..."

Also starring are Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery and T.I.

"...'Ant-Man' is a very important character for us," said Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige. 

"We like that people don't necessarily know what it is, we like that it sounds sort of strange when you first hear the notion of Ant-Man, or a hero that can shrink, but he's a very key Marvel character: he's a key 'Avenger'."

'Ant-Man' was created in 1962 by writer Stan Lee and illustrator co-plotter Jack Kirby for Marvel's "Tales to Astonish" #35.


Scientist 'Dr. Henry Pym', the first 'Ant-Man'  invented methods for an individual to be reduced in size, as well as a 'cybernetic' helmet to control insects with feelers.

The second Ant-Man was 'Scott Lang', a thief and con-man who reformed with the aid of Pym and 'Iron Man'...

...becoming an affiliate of the 'Fantastic Four' and full-time member of the 'Avengers'.

'Eric O'Grady', the third Ant-Man was a low-level agent of counter-terrorism organization 'S.H.I.E.L.D.', before he stole the Ant-Man armor "...to get chicks."
