The sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" is the first in the studio's 'Spider-Man' movie franchise to be filmed entirely in New York City.
New York is noted as the original setting for most of Marvel Comics' superhero characters.

The new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.
Electro debuted in Marvel Comics' "The Amazing Spider-Man" # 9 (February 1964), created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator Steve Ditko.
According to the comic book origin story, 'Electro', aka 'Maxwell Dillon' had ambitions of being an electrical engineer, taking on a job as a lineman for an electric company. While repairing a power line still connected to its spool, Dillon was struck by lightning. Following the accident, Dillon discovered he could generate massive quantities of electricity, up to one million volts, as lightning arcs from his fingertips. When his body was charged to high levels, Dillon could also become superhumanly strong, with the ability to glide over power lines using electricity for propulsion. He could also ionize metals, sparking petroleum in auto fuel tanks as a way to generate explosions. After creating a costume to conceal his identity, Dillon turned to a life of crime as 'Electro'.
