ABC has confirmed that actor Bill Paxton has joined the regular cast of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", as a Marvel Comics character:
Paxton will play in 4 episodes as 'Agent John Garrett', described by showrunner Jed Whedon as "...a rough-and-tumble former cohort of 'Agent Coulson', with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger. Garrett got his promotion to 'Level 7', then refused to sit behind a desk...He's going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two..."
The comic book character debuted in Frank Miller's "Elektra: Assassin" Marvel mini-series in the 1980's.
Garret will be introduced to the team "...in a very surprising way," said "S.H.I.E.L.D." executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen.
"He is the type who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets..."
