Fox Broadcasting Company has given a 13-episode series order to "Hieroglyph", described as a "fantastical action-adventure show", to be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment, featuring "seductive concubines and divine sorcerers":
"...set in ancient Egypt, where fantasy and reality intertwined, the series follows a notorious thief who is plucked from prison to serve the 'Pharoah', navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even a few divine sorcerers..."
"We wanted to do a show about deceit, sex, intrigue in the court and fantastical goings-on," said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment for FOX.
"No better place to set that than ancient Egypt..."
It is not known whether the producers will follow the works of author Zecharia Sitchin, who constructed a timeline as to when the 'Anunnaki' demi-gods first ruled Egypt.
