Warner Bros confirms that Fox have given a series commitment to a new TV series titled "Gotham", adapting the DC Comics characters. Showrunner is Bruno Heller ("Mentalist"):
"...in one of the biggest drama deals this season, Fox have acquired rights to "Gotham".
"Rather than focusing on 'Batman' the live-action series follows young 'Commissioner James Gordon' as a detective before he meets the 'Caped Crusader' and takes control of the police department.
"It will tell the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the notorious villains that made Gotham famous..."
