"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" Updates

Sneak Peek more new images from the Montreal set of "X-Men: Days Of Future Past".

The 3D Marvel Comics adaptation is directed by Bryan Singer ("Superman Returns").

Created by writer Stan Lee and illustrator/co-writer Jack Kirby, the villain 'Bolivar Trask' debuted in Marvel Comics' "Uncanny X-Men" #14 (November 1965):

"...'Bolivar Trask' was an anthropologist who saw the rise of 'mutants' as a threat to humanity. 

"Bolivar decides mankind has to fight back against the mutants and develops robotic guardians, known as the 'Sentinels'.

"'Professor Charles Xavier' invites Trask for a public debate on human/mutant relations.

"Xavier's arguments that mutants were just like humans did not convince Trask and he reveals his 'Sentinels'. But Trask and his scientists created a too adaptive, open-ended tactical/strategic programming for the robots and as a result the Sentinels turn against him, claiming they are superior to humans. 

"The Sentinels left with Trask and brought him to his first creation, the 'Master Mold', who orders him to construct more Sentinels. To stop the Sentinels, Xavier summons his 'X-Men'..." 

"Days Of Future Past" adapts Marvel Comics' "Uncanny X-Men" (1981) issues #141 and #142, written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by John Byrne.

The story alternates between present day, in which the 'X-Men' fight the 'Brotherhood of Evil Mutants' led by mutant shape-shifter 'Mystique' (Jennifer Lawrence)...

...and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating 'Senator Robert Kelly' :

"...the story begins 30 years in the future. In the 'present' the year is 1980, and 'Kitty Pryde' has just joined the X-Men. 

"While in the 'future' 'Kate Pryde' is a middle-aged women running for her life, trying to meet up with an elderly 'Wolverine' in a now-destroyed New York City.

"The future is bleak; an assassination of a presidential hopeful senator in 1980 led to a series of events that allowed the robotic 'Sentinels' into taking over North America.

"The Sentinels are ready to move overseas to spread their control world-wide, but the rest of the world is ready to launch nuclear weapons to prevent that from happening. 

"The surviving 'X-Men', who are very few, are 'Storm, 'Colossus', 'Wolverine', newcomer 'Rachel' and Kate herself. 

"They are assisted by 'Magnus- Magneto', confined to a wheelchair..."

"The Days of Future Past' storyline was also adapted for the "X-Men" Animated TV series, with another alternative future story, focusing on bounty hunter 'Bishop' and the idea of a traitor within the ranks of the team.
