"Guardians Of The Galaxy": Zoe Saldana Is 'Gamora'

According to reports, actress Zoe Saldana, who plays 'Uhura' in Paramount's new "Star Trek" films, is also in talks to star as 'Gamora' in director James Gunn's prepping 3D Marvel Comics' adaptation, "Guardians Of The Galaxy".

Created by Jim Starlin, the character debuted in Marvel's "Strange Tales" #180 (June 1975), as the adopted daughter of 'Thanos'. Her powers include superhuman strength and agility and an accelerated healing factor. Her species, the 'Zen Whoberi', were exterminated by the Badoon.

Thanos found the orphaned child and decided to use her as a weapon, raised and trained to assassinate the 'Magus'.

Thanos showed her little kindness during her childhood, but Gamora was very loyal to the man who promised her the opportunity to avenge the death of her family.

She became proficient in martial arts with cybernetic enhancements of superhuman strength, speed and a rapid healing ability.
