"The Count Of Monte Cristo" Adaptation
According to internet reports, David Goyer, screenwriter of "Man Of Steel", will direct a 'swashbuckling' adaptation of the classic novel "The Count Of Monte Cristo" by author Alexandre Dumas, for producer Jeremy Bolt ("Resident Evil"), as if it were an adaptation of a visceral graphic novel.
"...in early 19th century France, 'Edmond Dantes' is betrayed and falsely jailed. While on a prison island, he meets a fellow inmate who educates him and tells him where to find a 'fortune'.
"Following an escape Dantes re-emerges as a wealthy man in Paris society primed to take revenge against the men who took away his love and his freedom..."
