Oscar-winning director Ang Lee wants to direct actress Angelina Jolie as the historical Egyptian queen 'Cleopatra', in a developing feature based on the best-selling biography "Queen Of The Nile, Cleopatra: A Life", by author Stacy Schiff.
Producer Scott Rudin ("The Queen"), who purchased screen rights to the novel confirmed the project was "being developed for and with Jolie".
Actress Elizabeth Taylor previously played "Cleopatra" in the 1963 feature of the same name.
The historical 'Cleopatra VII Philopator', believed to be the re-incarnation and embodiment of the goddess 'Isis', was the last person to rule Egypt as a 'pharaoh'. After she died, Egypt became a Roman province.
