''Agent Phil Coulson' Returning For "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV Series


Marvel's head of television, Jeph Loeb reports that actor Clark Gregg will reprise his role as 'Agent Phil Coulson' in ABC's developing "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series.


"We all love Clark Gregg, there’s no doubt about that", said Joss Whedon, who is co-writing the pilot to Marvel’s "S.H.I.E.L.D." with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. "He’s headlining the 'S.H.I.E.L.D'. show and always was..."


"There was never going to be a 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' show without 'Agent Phil Coulson'", said Marvel Studio's head Kevin Feige.


Coulson has appeared as a member of counter-intelligence agency S.H.I.E.L.D. in the features "Iron Man" (2008) "Iron Man 2" (2010), "Thor" (2011), and "The Avengers" (2012). 


The character's popularity has also resulted in his appearance in the mainstream Marvel Comics universe, as well as in the animated television series "Ultimate Spider-Man".
