"The Master"

Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s "The Master", stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as 'Lancaster Dodd', a charismatic leader of a cult called 'The Cause' and Joaquin Phoenix:

Joaquin Phoenix co-stars as WW II Navy veteran 'Freddie Sutton', suffering from war-related post-traumatic stress syndrome, who finds himself swayed by Dodd.

"A striking portrait of drifters and seekers in post World War II America, 'The Master' unfolds the journey of a Naval veteran (Joaquin Phoenix) who arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future — until he is tantalized by 'The Cause' and its charismatic leader (Hoffman).

"But when the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the drifter finds himself questioning the belief system and his mentor."

Cast also includes Laura Dern, Jesse Plemons and David Warshovsky.

The new film will be released September 2012.
