Thanks to TorontoFilm.Net, Sneak Peek the first official look at director Guillermo del Toro's, Toronto-lensed sc-fi feature "Pacific Rim", (aka "Still Seas").
The PG-rated, 'mecha monster' movie started shooting at Pinewood Toronto Studios October 31, 2011.
Del Toro said "Pacific Rim" involves giant alien monsters traveling through a vortex to attack major cities, starring Charlie Hunnam ("Sons of Anarachy"), as 'Raleigh Antrobus', who pilots a high-tech robot machine called a 'Jaeger' against the aliens.
Also starring are Idris Elba ("Thor") and Willem Dafoe ("Platoon").
"...the hostile ET's come from the parallel world 'The Anteverse', that tries to destroy humanity by attacking cities and nations neighboring the Pacific Ocean. But the creatures are thwarted in their attempts by Earth-made, high-tech, weapons-ready robots..."
Legendary Pictures purchased the screenplay for "Pacific Rim" in a pre-emptive buy from screenwriter Travis Beacham ("Clash Of The Titans").
