The $70 million budgeted, Universal-Illumination Entertainment, PG-rated, computer-animated 3D feature "The Lorax', based on the 'save-the-environment' children's book by author/illustrator 'Dr. Suess', opened with $70.7M domestically over the weekend.
The box office was the biggest opening of 2012 and the most ever for a Universal animated feature film.
