Vertigo Comics' "Madame Xanadu", Vol. 4: Extra Sensory", available August 10, 2011, is written by Matt Wagner, with illustrations by Amy Reeder, Marley Zarcone, Marian Churchland, and a cover by Mark Buckingham :

"...this final volume collecting issues #24-29 is set in 1960's New York City and features the five senses, illustrated by five sensational female artists..."

'Madame Xanadu', the comic book mystic, inspired by author Sir Thomas Malory's "Le Morte d'Arthur", was once 'Nimue Inwudu', the youngest sister of 'Morgana' ('Morgaine Le Fay') and 'Vivienne', the 'Lady of the Lake', descendants of the 'Elder Folk', who are survivors of 'Atlantis' who evolved into the 'Homo Magi' race.

Nimue cast an imprisoning spell on her former lover 'Merlin', blaming him for manipulating 'Camelot' and the course of history for his own gain. But Merlin succeeds in stripping her magic, forcing her to use potions to maintain her immortality.

Nimue then wandered the world, becoming an advisor to 'Kublai Khan' at Xanadu, leading to her new name 'Madame Xanadu'.

During the French Revolution, she attempted to advise 'Marie Antoinette'. During this era, she also regained her immortality, besting 'Death' in a card game.

Other incidents in her long years of life include a doomed lesbian love affair during the 'Spanish Inquisition'.

Eventually, Madame Xanadu decides to atone for her sins and begins operating afortune-telling parlour out of Greenwich Village, meeting clients plagued by supernatural problems.
