Gene Simmons' "KISS" rock band, notorious for their 1977 Marvel Comics full-color comic book magazine, "...printed in real KISS blood" (mixing the bands' actual blood with printer's ink), returns to comic books with licensed properties for Archie Comics and IDW Publishing.
"Archie and IDW will tell two unique and in-your-face tales of 'KISS'", said Simmons, "and we are thrilled to be working with them on these projects."
The "KISS" Archie publication, "Archie" #627, available November 2011, launches a four-part 'Archie Meets Kiss' storyline, written by Alex Segura, with illustrations by Dan Parent:"..when a spell from 'Sabrina' goes awry and a cabal of monsters invade the town, the 'Archie' gang and 'KISS' join forces to try and save the day..."
IDW's "KISS" series will debut in 2012.
