Foxx And DiCaprio Slap Leather For "Django"

According to reports, actors Jamie Foxx ("Ray") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Inception") have been cast in director Quentin Tarantino's currently prepping, 'bloody revenge' western genre feature "Django Unchained".

Written by Tarantino, Foxx will play the lead role, of a former slave named 'Django', a part that originally went out to actor Will Smith. DiCaprio will play a villainous plantation owner, named 'Calvin Candie'.

Premise of "Django Unchained" follows a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter, played by Christoph Waltz ("Inglourious Basterds"), who purchases the slave Django to help identify a wanted man. Becoming fast friends, the two wind up rescuing Django's wife from Candie.

The title of Tarantino's film, refers to director Sergio Corbucci's 1966 'spaghetti western' feature "Django", starring actor Franco Nero, about a gunslinger who rescues a woman from bandits.

No stranger to the "Django" canon of films, Tarantino had a featured cameo in director Takashi Miike's 2007 Japanese feature "Sukiyaki Western Django".
