"Absolute Kingdom Come" - January 25, 2012

A new hard cover printing of DC Comics' "Absolute Kingdom Come", available January 25, 2012, is written by Mark Waid, with illustrations and cover by Alex Ross :

"...the unforgettable, best-selling "Kingdom Come' miniseries by acclaimed writer Mark Waid and superstar painter Alex Ross returns, with a sketchbook section, annotations on the series, rare art and a whole lot more..."

The original four-issue "Kingdom Come" comic book mini-series published in 1996 by DC Comics, was painted in 'gouache' by Ross, who also developed the series' concept from an original idea.

Set twenty years into the future of the 'DC Universe', the graphic novels dealt with a growing conflict between 'traditional' superheroes, such as 'Superman', 'Wonder Woman' and the 'Justice League' and the growing population of largely amoral and dangerously irresponsible new vigilantes.

Between these two groups is 'Batman' and his assembled team, who attempt to contain the escalating disaster, foil the machinations of 'Lex Luthor' and prevent a world-ending superhuman war.
