From VancouverFilm.Net, comes word that producer/writer J.J. Abrams, currently shooting the series "Fringe" in Vancouver, has now set his midseason 'supernatural' thriller TV series "Alcatraz" to start production in Vancouver this summer, with writer/co-producers Elizabeth Sarnoff and Bryan Burk ("Lost"). With a pilot directed earlier this year by Danny Cannon ("CSI"), "Alcatraz" stars Jorge Garcia, Sam Neill, Parminder Nagra and Robert Forster following a 'miraculous prison break'.
"Alcatraz" is one of three new series shooting in Vancouver, including "The Secret Circle", a CW spinoff, based on the book series "The Vampire Diaries" by author L.J. Smith and ABC's modern 'fairy tale' take, "Once Upon a Time".
