The film follows 'Ken Kesey' and his 'Merry Pranksters', lensed during an LSD-fueled trip across the USA from Kesey’s farm in Oregon to New York City for the 1964 World Fair, in the psychedelic-painted bus named 'Further'.
Using the voice of actor Stanley Tucci as narrator/interviewer, Gibney pairs up the original sound with interviews/audio clips.
The famous bus trip was previously documented in author Tom Wolfe’s novel, "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test".
