"Family Guy: It's A Trap" - May 22, 2011

Fox reports that the ninth season of creator Seth MacFarlane's animated "Family Guy" TV series, averaging 7.23 million viewers per episode, will wrap Sunday, May 22, 2011 with a special one-hour episode of the "Star Wars' animated satire "Family Guy: It's a Trap".

Previously released on DVD December 2010, "Its A Trap", directed by Peter Shin, written by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and David A. Goodman, retells the story of Lucasfilm's "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" as "Family Guy: Blue Harvest" did with "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" and "Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Dark Side" did with "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" by recasting characters from "Family Guy" into roles from the film.

In other "Family Guy" news, Fox has renewed the series for a 10th season.

"For nine seasons, our viewers have been cracked up, delighted, surprised and at times, gloriously disturbed by the mind of Seth MacFarlane," said Fox president of Entertainment Kevin Reilly, "...and they keep coming back for more. The 'Griffins' have become cornerstones of our Sunday nights, and we can't wait to find out what new adventures Seth cooks up for them next season."
