Milos Forman Bets On "Ponzi's Scheme"

Director Milos Forman ("Amadeus") is in development on a film adaptation of author Mitchell Zuckoff's "Ponzi’s Scheme: The True Story Of A Financial Legend", based on a screenplay by Christopher Weekes.

Using archival newspapers, almanacs, letters, and photographs, author Zuckoff recreates Italian immigrant Charles Ponzi's 1920's mercurial rise and fall in Boston, as he conjured up one get-rich-quick scheme after another.

Charming, gregarious and popular, Ponzi devised and carried out his plans, ensuring that naive investors doubled their financial investments, with Ponzi using the money of new investors to pay off old investors, until his "robbing Peter to pay Paul" system eventually collapsed.
