Dimension Films has now started production on the sequel to the comedy horror feature "Piranha 3D", titled "Piranha 3DD (Double D)", with principal photography now lensing in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The first film in the new franchise, "Piranha 3D" released in 2010, is a remake of the 1978, Roger Corman-produced, Joe Dante-directed exploitation film, "Piranha".
"Piranha 3D" was directed by Alexandre Aja, starring Jerry O'Connell, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, Ving Rhames and Eli Roth.
Cast of "Piranha 3DD" includes Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez andClu Gulager.
The Dimension Films release is being produced by Mark Canton, Marc Toberoff and Joel Soisson. Executive producer is Chako van Leeuwen. Co-producers are Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.
"Piranha 3DD" will open across North America November 23, 2011.
