"Wolfman" Producer Visiting "Dead Island" ?

According to reports, producer Sean Daniel ("The Wolfman"), is interested in developing the upcoming video game "Dead Island" into a film property, along the lines of the successful "Resident Evil", zombie movie franchise.

However, video games publisher Deep Silver have confirmed that they still retain control over film adaptation rights to "Dead Island".

"Contrary to rumors that have been circulating, neither the film rights nor any other licenses have yet been sold by Deep Silver, which is the sole IP holder of the 'Dead Island' brand," said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver's parent company Koch Media. "While no decision has been made yet regarding the 'Dead Island' movie rights, Deep Silver is currently looking through a vast amount of inquiries".

Afraid of a 'Uwe Boll' movie treatment for their game, Deep Silver, "...want to do it the right way as film realizations of games usually fail to deliver what the fans were looking for. We will not go down this route with 'Dead Island'. Deep Silver profoundly believes in the quality and value of 'Dead Island'.

"We would therefore be honored to work with someone who already has a proven track record with 'blockbuster' movies."

The "Dead Island" game, in development by Techland for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, focuses on the challenge of survival on a zombie-infested island with a major emphasis on 'melee combat'.

Set in the 'Royal Palms Resort' in Papua New Guinea, the first-person shooter character wakes up during the night after partying, to discover a zombie outbreak.

The four playable characters in the game are 'Xian Mei', a staff member at the hotel, 'Logan', a surfer, 'Sam B', a former rapper and 'Purna', who are all immune to the zombie infection.

"Dead Island" the game, is set for release in 2011.
