Summit's "Highlander": There Can Be Only One

According to reports, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg ("Twilight"), will reboot Summit Entertainment's "Highlander" movie franchise, from producer Neal H. Moritz and director Justin Lin ("Fast Five").


The original "Highlander" fantasy-action feature, budgeted at $16 million, from Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment and Highlander Productions Limited, distributed by 20th Century Fox, was released in 1986, directed by Russell Mulcahy and based on a story by Gregory Widen.

Starring actors Christopher Lambert as 'Connor MacLeod'/ 'Russell Nash', Sean Connery as 'Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez', Clancy Brown as' The Kurgan/'Victor Krugerand' and Roxanne Hart as 'Brenda Wyatt', depicted the climax of an ages-old battle between immortal warriors, focusing on an elaborately-interwoven past and present day storylines.

"...From the 'Dawn of Time' we came, moving silently down through the centuries, living many secret lives, struggling to reach the 'Time of the Gathering', when the few who remain will battle to the last. No one has ever known we were among you, until now".

"Highlander" has since spawned several sequel features, a TV series and Dynamite publishing comic book series.
