Covering 75 years of DC comics from its founding in the 1930's to its movie ventures of today, the book includes entries on the first comic book produced by the company, "New Fun" # 1 (1935), as well as other 'watershed' moments including the first appearance of 'Superman' in "Action Comics" #1 (1938), the first appearance of 'Batman' in "Detective Comics" #27 (1939) and the start of the comic book 'Silver Age' with the debut of the new 'Flash' in "Showcase" #4 (1956). 
Also included are entries for DC's 'Western' heroes, the first appearance of 'Sgt. Rock' in "G.I. Combat" #68 (1959) and artist Jack "King" Kirby’s leap from Marvel to DC.
