Schwentke Spooked By "R.I.P.D."

Robert Schwentke, director of the Toronto-lensed comic book adaptation "Red" will next take on Dark Horse comics "R.I.P.D"., ('Rest In Peace Department'), created by Peter Lenkov.

Screenplay is by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi.

Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, recently wrapping up his role as DC Comics' "Green Lantern" will star in "R.I.P.D." for producer Neil Moritz of Original Films, setting a start date for January 2011.

"It’s about two cops," said Moritz about the new film.
"One recently dead and a gunslinger who’s been dead for hundreds of years that work on the 'Rest in Peace' department - which is the police department of the dead. It takes place on a normal day and it’s about trying to keep the spirits quiet."

Mike Richardson, founder/President of Dark Horse Comics and Lawrence Gordon will produce for Dark Horse Entertainment.
