"Total Recall": "You Call Dis' A Delusion?"

While producer Neal H. Moritz and his Original Films continue developing Columbia Pictures reboot of the 1990 Martian movie "Total Recall" in anticipation of the 'red planet' sizzle that is sure to follow the release of Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of author Edgar Rice Burroughs "John Carter Of Mars", Dynamite Entertainment reports it will publish a series of "Total Recall" comic books, based on the Carolco Pictures film.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the "Total Recall" movie was based on author Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale."

Rights to publish "Total Recall" were obtained from StudioCanal S.A. under a licensing agreement negotiated by The Licensing Group Ltd.

"I am thrilled to announce that Dynamite has acquired the rights to 'Total Recall' from StudioCanal," said Dynamite president Nick Barrucci.

"We will give this property the same tender care that we have given to so many of our other successful science-fiction properties such as 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Stargate' and 'Buck Rogers'."

"...'Total Recall' the comic book series, is centered on an unsophisticated construction worker, 'Douglas Quaid' and the aftermath of his visit to 'REKALL', a company offering vacations for the mind. But the Rekall vacation triggers a 'mind plant' in Quaid's brain, leading him to discover that he is a freedom fighter from Mars who has been relocated to Earth. Quaid attempts to restore order and reverse the corrupt influence of commercial powers, despite multiple challenges, not the least of which are his wife's multiple attempts to kill him: attacks from thugs who want him dead; and his own confusion as to who he really is. Quaid conquers the corrupt hold of the Mars based mining company restoring order to the Mars community..."
