Sneak Peek Scorsese's "Boardwalk Empire"

"Boardwalk Empire" the new crime thriller TV series from HBO, is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, circa 1920 during the Prohibition bootlegger era, starring Steve Buscemi as a crime boss.

The show is adapted from author Nelson Johnson's book, "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times and Corruption Of Atlantic City", by Emmy award-winning screenwriter/producer Terence Winter ("The Sopranos").

The pilot episode was directed by Martin Scorsese, who is expected to continue to be creatively involved in the ongoing production as a producer.

September 1, 2009, HBO picked up the series for an additional 11 episodes, making the first season 12 episodes long, including the pilot.

"Boardwalk Empire" debuts fall 2010.
